‘In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit.’

Ephesians 1.13

The miracle of new life is a true gift from God! Baptism is a way of celebrating this gift, and the means of grace by which we become Christians. We baptise with water in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Our church is a warm and inviting place, an iconic building in a good location. Our service is in English and lasts about half an hour. You don’t need to bring anything, though if you would like to bring your own baptismal candle you are welcome to do so. There are no fees for the sacrament of Baptism, but a donation to support the life of our church is much appreciated.

Godparents must have been baptised themselves. Every child should have at least three godparents, two of the same sex and at least one of the opposite sex to your child. Although there is no official maximum number of godparents, three or four is usual. If you’d like more than that, our priest will be happy to advise.

Becoming a Christian through the waters of baptism is not only for babies and infants. If you are an adult exploring Christianity for the first time, baptism may be the next step for you. Please note that if you have been baptised in another Christian church, you cannot be baptised again – but it is possible to affirm your baptismal promises with us.
