A Centenary Prayer
It was a great joy to celebrate the centenary of the church’s consecration with Choral Evensong on Saturday. Evensong really is the jewel of our Anglican tradition, and it was a wonderful to share it with so many ecumenical partners and friends. We also welcomed back many old friends.
In the service, Bishop Robert preached and I led the prayers of intercession. We gave thanks for a hundred year’s of the church’s ministry; we prayed for our brothers and sisters in Christ who share with us the proclamation of the Kingdom in Bucharest; we remembered our departed founders, benefactors and friends.
I concluded the intercessions with a prayer that I would like to share more widely. As we look to the future with faith and hope, I would like this prayer to be used over the course of this centenary year. It means a lot to know that people all over the world are praying for us and for our community. May this prayer - for the Church of the Resurrection, and for ourselves - be a blessing to us all.
Lord God, you have called us to be a light for the world;
may we know the power of Christ’s Resurrection at work in our lives,
that we may shine with the radiance of your glory,
both now and for generations to come;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
